¡Quiero ver sangre! has been on our wishlist for a while. This is an Encyclopedia on Lucha Libre Cinema published in Mexico that is hard to come by in the USA. Recently, Keith Rainville (Writer of Los Campeones, Mr FPU) bought a copy on Amazon and WOW! – our film is in this book! What a huge thrill. Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre is listed in here with a synopsis and very nice review. Click on the image below to enlarge. (Everything is in español)

If you have an hour to spare, listen to me chat with our special luchadora friends on this podcast –> http://www.deuxfilles.net/podcast/?p=409
It is a little silly. We talk about Lucha Libre, Mucha Lucha, Los Campeones, Doggie Drawings, and Ice Cream. I also say that I am looking for an agent… which is indeed true as I have some new projects (animated and screenable, illustrated and publishable) for which I could use some representation. Gracias! – Lili
P.S. I have also been recently interviewed on The Kitchn.com HERE
As this site has become a portal to other sites hosting our work, please check our Los Campeones facebook page, where we post all kinds of art from the movie – including backgrounds, character designs, publicity artwork and storyboards. And please – if any of this appeals, please feel free to like us ;)
At long last, three years after its Mexican theatrical premiere, Los Campeones finally makes its way onto the US and Canadian DVD market!
In fact, this is the second time that the movie has been released on DVD. In 2009, the DVD release was for Mexico only.
However, while we are more than happy to see the movie finally available to everyone, as the movie’s producers, there is one thing for the record we need to set straight…
In this new release, some of the music we picked for certain scenes has been replaced due to higher worldwide licensing fees that the US distributors weren’t able or willing to pay for.
We spent a lot of time hand picking some great tracks from some great artists that we felt were perfect for the scenes they were used in. You can hear some of the original soundtrack at www.myspace.com/loscampeones (Yeah yeah, we know. Nobody goes to myspace anymore)
Having said this, Phofo‘s magnificent original score with Mariachi Los Toros remains, and the HD visual quality of this DVD is stunning. The colors look as brilliant as they did in the 35mm release.
The truly hardcore Los Campeones fan may be pleased to know that in total there are now FOUR versions of the movie…
- Mexican theatrical release (Spanish)
- Mexican DVD release (English & Spanish)
- US DVD release (English, different music)
- US DVD release (different Spanish language version, different music)
And yes, the Mexican DVD was still available on Amazon last time we looked :)

Next month, Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre will be screening as part of a Mexican Wrestling Night event at Newcastle’s annual Vamos Latin Festival. There will be live Mexican wrestling (yes! In Newcastle!), DJs, and bands.
Dann Lennard (“Writer, dreamer, drunkard, zinester, Bettie Page expert, wrestling journalist”) went and saw Los Campeones this weekend and wrote a review on his blog.
THANK YOU, DANN!
And here’s an old photo of me and a copy of Betty Paginated zine. And my back cover – Sorpresa!
Los Campeones makes its French debut at the Strasbourg International Film festival on September 2nd. Full festival schedule and screening locations here.
La Nave De Los Monstrous in particular – because we have only seen this on low-quality VHS in Spanish, with no English subtitles, and it was inspiration for many a monster in Los Campeones! :)
Saving this date: Friday August 28th, 7.30pm. UCLA Billy Wilder Theater. See you there!
We apologize that our www.loscampeones.net website has been inactive…
Hang in there and thanks for your patience! The site will be back soon!
In the meantime, visit our Los Campeones Myspace and Facebook pages… you can find these links on the right side of this page.
